A suspect accused of driving drunk, hitting a woman with a vehicle, and fleeing from law enforcement was arrested Wednesday morning after a pursuit through Chadron.

CHADRON, Neb. — A suspect accused of driving drunk, hitting a woman with a vehicle, and fleeing from law enforcement was arrested Wednesday morning after a pursuit through Chadron.

According to the Chadron Police Department, officers were called to assist the Oglala Sioux Tribe Police Department in a pursuit that entered Chadron’s city limits.

Officers spotted the suspect’s black Ford pickup entering the city on Beaver Valley Road. The vehicle continued through several streets, including Bartlett Road, North Pine Street and First Street, before leaving town along Beaver Valley Road.

Police say the suspect ignored commands to stop but maintained speeds between 35 and 40 mph while driving through the city, and there was no immediate danger to the public.

The pursuit ended near the South Dakota–Nebraska state line, where the suspect was taken into custody by OST Police.

The Chadron Police Department is reminding drivers to stay alert and aware of changing road conditions to help keep the community safe.
