KIMBALL, Neb. - A Kimball man was arrested Saturday after police investigated a reported assault in the 700 block of Chestnut Street, according to the Kimball Police Department.

Officers responded to the call on Nov. 15 and, after investigating, said they established probable cause to arrest Steven Nunley, 38, on a charge of child abuse. When officers attempted to contact Nunley at his residence, he did not answer the door.

A search warrant was authorized to allow officers to enter the home and take Nunley into custody. Police said before entry was made, Nunley exited the residence on his own and was arrested without incident.

The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the response.

Police noted the arrest is based on preliminary information and the investigation is ongoing. No additional details will be released to protect the integrity of the case.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
