KEARNEY, Neb.— The record-breaking numbers are in for the annual Give Where You Live event.

The annual giving day including over 200 nonprofits, connects people across Buffalo County with causes they care about.

With over 7,500 donations, Give Where You Live ended the day with a total of over $2.3 million.

This was the first time crossing the Kearney Area Community Foundation has crossed the $2 million threshold. The previous record was over $1.9 million.

This year’s theme, “A Recipe for Success,” showed up across the area with nonprofits hosting contests, sharing soups and desserts, and handing out recipe books.

The Kearney Area Community Foundation staff said the day started with high energy as donors were lining up to give.

Early giving began on November 6, but the majority of donations were received yesterday.

Since it began in 2013, Give Where You Live has raised more than $13.5 million for local nonprofits, and organizers say yesterday’s momentum will continue to grow.
