VALENTINE, Neb. - A house south-west of Valentine is a total loss after a fire started in an attached garage Saturday afternoon, spread to the house, and then reignited early Sunday morning. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal says the house fire on Highway 97 was caused by electrical issues in the garage.

Valentine Fire Chief Terry Engles says the fire burned up two vehicles in the garage before it spread to the house.

“This morning (Sunday) we’re putting out hot spots in the basement. We need to make sure everything is under control with the weather changing soon and the wind blowing, so it doesn’t spread more,” said Engles.

No injuries were reported.
