SIDNEY – Jeremy Lee is seeking voter support to stay on the Sidney City Council.

Lee was appointed following the resignation of Brad Sherman.

“I filled a vacancy spot that Sherman had carried in July of 2025. So, I’ve been on there ... seven months now?” he said.

Lee said he offered his name for the open council seat to get more involved in the community.

“I’ve done a couple projects in town and I just wanted to help just a little bit more, and when this came available I guess you could say, I had a couple people reach out and said i think you could do really good, and I should try it,” he said.

Seeing decisions from a council seat has been an education, according to Lee.

“It’s been a little eye-opening. I didn’t realize at the beginning that how many different groups there were in it, how the budget works, how all that stuff is structured, how long the guys work on that budget. [I] didn’t realize that the guys that were in there that were working with the budget are all local people. So when you think this budget’s crazy or something like that. None of these guys want to see their taxes being raised or money being spent stupid,” he said.

Lee said his few months on the city council have shown him the City staff have people who really care. He said he has also learned how the state-level decisions impact local government.

One of his interests if elected is a focus on affordable housing.

“I think one of the key things is affordable housing. I know we have some new houses being built, and things like that,” he said.

Lee said areas like Sioux Villa in North Sidney needs revitalized.
