A conservative lawmaker from rural, western Nebraska took a leading role Thursday in the push to allow medical marijuana in the state.

Les Schwab Tires is opening a new store on Sept. 2 at 886 Jennifer Lane in Sidney. This will be Les Schwab Tires’ sixth location in Nebraska. The company first entered the state in February 2025 with the purchase of Modern Tire Pros in North Platte.
At about 12:45 a.m., Colorado State Patrol troopers were notified of a crash involving two HAZMAT trucks northeast of Greeley. This crash involved two vehicles: an International Harvester hauling a trailer with hydrochloric acid, and a Kenworth hauling a trailer with natural gas.
On Saturday, Scottsbluff Police officers responded to a report of a suspicious male who was allegedly under the influence and trespassing at a residence. At about 9:31 p.m., the vehicle was located by the Gering Police Department, and a second pursuit entered Scottsbluff.
