Lincoln County authorities investigate body found on locomotive in Bailey Yard

Authorities in Lincoln County said they are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on a locomotive.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Authorities in Lincoln County said they are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found on a locomotive. 

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said that around 9:25 a.m. on Sunday, they got a call from Union Pacific Railroad reporting they found a dead woman on a locomotive. 

The locomotive was inside Bailey Yards, but it had recently been towed in for repairs from Cheyenne, Wyoming. 

Deputies and Investigators from LCSO responded to the scene. 

According to officials, investigators found the woman wedged in a small generator room located just behind the cab of the locomotive. 

Authorities said that it looked like the female had recently died, and she had no identification. 

An autopsy has been scheduled for Apr. 11 to determined the cause of death, and the help identify the woman. 

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office investigators are working with the Cheyenne Police Department on this case. 

Officials ask that anyone with knowledge of a missing female from Lincoln County or the Cheyenne area is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 308-535-9599.

This is an ongoing investigation.
