Multiple agencies respond to field fire south of Lodgepole

Multiple agencies responded to a cornfield fire south of Lodgepole this afternoon.

LODGEPOLE (November 16, 2023) -- A massive plume of smoke could be seen from U.S. Highway 30 north and into Colorado from the south this afternoon.

The fire drew a response from neighboring fire departments as well as farmers and ranchers in the area.

The fire, in a corn stubble field near Cheyenne County Roads 6 and 141, drew response from Lodgepole Volunteer Fire, Sidney Fire, Peetz, Fleming, Sedgwick County and Chappell departments.

No injuries or loss of buildings were reported.
