UNK Pride of the Plains announces 2026 members, performance schedule

The University of Nebraska at Kearney Pride of the Plains Marching Band has announced its 2026 season schedule, beginning with Thursday’s home football game against Wayne State College. In addition to performing at all UNK home football games, the Pride of the Plains will take part in the annual UNK Band Day Parade on Sept. 19. The parade begins at 10 a.m. in downtown Kearney.

Flock cameras discussed at Cherry County commissioners meeting

Cherry County officials are weighing the possibility of installing Flock cameras, with commissioners and law enforcement discussing the technology during Tuesday’s meeting.

Alliance man in custody following stabbing incident

Alliance authorities were dispatched at 2:51 a.m. today to a report that a man had been stabbed. Responding officers located an adult male victim suffering from significant lacerations to his head, left arm, and wrist.

Community volleyball season starts August 27

More than 50 third- through sixth-grade girls are preparing for the start of the Cheyenne County Community Center's youth volleyball season following a two-day skills camp led by the Sidney High School volleyball program. Youth league practices begin Monday, Aug. 24, with matches starting Thursday, Aug. 27.
