'All Is Bright' looking forward to 2024 event

SIDNEY -- The lighting and Christmas decorations that adorned the Cheyenne County Fairgrounds for a new idea are still be taken down, and planners are looking ahead to changes for 2024.
Cheyenne County Tourism Director Kendra Mitchell met with the Cheyenne County Commissioners this morning to discuss the 2024 "All Is Bright" Christmas tour.
All is Bright is the indoors Christmas tour held in 2023 at the fairgrounds. The concept is to take the idea of touring a neighborhood or community to see Christmas decorations and bring them inside as a walking tour, with more control of the weather.
"We had a committee meeting earlier in January to discuss what we like to do with this event this coming year, ways to improve on what we did last year. We learned a lot this last year, putting up trees, and moving them over and over again. But we had a lot of fun and a lot of success. We had over 2500 people come through the event," Mitchell said.
She said the committee is looking at a similar schedule as 2023; one Saturday in November and three weekends in December. The proposed change is to add a Sunday, the last Sunday before Christmas, Dec. 23, 2024.
The event drew crowds in the inaugural year, even the night of the Christmas parade.
"When the parade was starting, we kind of cleared out for about 45 minutes as people went downtown to the parade and see Santa downtown, and then they came right back. I was told it was a solid line of cars after the parade," she said.
For 2024, the committee wants to add more kids games and activities. The committee also wants to add more entertainment and change the layout.
