Tornado in Whitman injures one, destroys homes

A tornado tore through Whitman, Nebraska on Tuesday night, destroying homes and injuring one person.

WHITMAN, Neb. - A tornado tore through Whitman, Nebraska on Tuesday night, destroying homes and injuring one person. Grant County Sheriff Michael Rath reported that the most severe damage occurred half a mile south of the village, where two homes were destroyed, and one person was injured.

In addition to the destroyed homes, several other houses, trees and vehicles were damaged in Whitman. The tornado also took down two of the three communication towers in the area.

Sheriff Rath has requested that only emergency personnel and residents enter the affected areas to facilitate recovery and ensure safety.
