GORDON, Neb. - Gordon’s city manager is retiring. Glen Spaugh has held the position since February 2019. He announced that his final day managing city work will be December 31, 2024.

“In April of 2023, I reached the ‘magical age’ of retirement, and in the early part of this year, I became increasingly aware of my need to step away from the pace that this position demands. I am desiring to spend more time with my family, as well as pursue other interests,” Spaugh said.

Before becoming city manager, Spaugh worked as deputy clerk for six years.

“This presented a great opportunity to learn first-hand about the functions of the city and the issues that we face,” Spaugh said.

Spaugh would like the new city manager to start on Aug. 5 to allow for proper training. The city manager position also includes the roles of airport manager and city treasurer, along with additional meetings that were not attended by the city manager in the past.

“I appreciate the opportunity of serving in this position and I hope the best for the City of Gordon in the days ahead,” Spaugh said.
