VALENTINE, Neb. - A Valentine man is facing charges after police began searching for the parents or guardians of a girl on July 8.

Valentine Police say the investigation led officers to the 300 block of E 3rd St. where the child's parent was located. Officers then arrested Kenneth Middaugh, age 41, for child neglect. During the arrest, police discovered Middaugh in possession of a handgun, which he is prohibited from having.

On July 9, Valentine Police received information suggesting Middaugh had more firearms at his house. After executing a search warrant, Cherry County Sheriff's Office deputies and Valentine Police officers found an additional gun.
