VALENTINE, Neb. -- Valentine’s popular dance studio for kids and teens is moving to a new, larger location just in time for the 2024-2025 school year. Heart City Dance plans to open in its new spot at 148 E. 1st Street, also known as the “Yucca Dunes” building, shortly after Labor Day. Owner Amy Arganbright said the new location will have two studio spaces, instead of the current one.

“We will be able to run multiple classes simultaneously, and it will allow our competitive kids some space to rehearse independently, which will hopefully free up some coveted weekend hours during competition season,” Arganbright said.

The current studio is one of the oldest buildings on Main Street, and Arganbright said it’s in need of repairs.

“After it undergoes some fixing up, we’ll see what the future holds for our beloved Main Street space,” Arganbright said.

As News Channel Nebraska reported in this video story, Arganbright launched Heart City Dance 13 years ago. The program now includes around 130 dancers and a competition team that travels across the region. Arganbright said that the new space will not only allow for more studio space, but will also have more parking spaces for parents.

“The parking will be significantly better. Drop-off and pick-up should be much smoother for everyone involved,” Arganbright said.

In addition to the new dance studio, the Yucca Dunes building is also home to several other businesses, including a nail technician, massage therapist, RDAP and Home 360. The space Heart City Dance is moving into was previously occupied by a church and Curves fitness club.

“We are looking forward to fixing up and breathing new life into both our old and new spaces. We are still close to Main Street, making it super accessible for kids to walk and bike after school, which is something I love about our small-town studio,” Arganbright said. “I also look forward to potentially have some space to rent for someone wanting to teach yoga or other needs for that type of space.”
