WINNER, S.D. - A person is in custody following threats made on social media towards the Winner Middle and High School, according to the district’s Facebook page. As News Channel Nebraska previously reported, the schools were placed on lockdown, and students were dismissed early on Wednesday due to the threat.

Classes resumed Thursday morning with an increased police presence for added security.

“Although it is difficult to say that there is no credibility to any threat, it was determined by authorities that this specific threat originated outside of the Winner area through a social media platform,” the district wrote on Facebook.
