VALENTINE, Neb. - The unofficial results are in for the Cherry County general election, with 84% of registered voters turning out—surpassing the Nebraska Secretary of State’s statewide prediction of 72%.

Tanya Storer received 1614 votes and Tony Tangwall 1271 for the District 43 legislative seat. Voters in several counties will be deciding who replaces Tom Brewer, who is term limited.

Max Eggert (899 votes), Ross Brockley (738 votes) and Kyle Arganbright (669 votes) won the three Valentine City Council seats.

Voters also chose three new Valentine School Board members. Jo Hand (1405 votes), Shane Kime (1346 votes) and Michelle Kluender (1127 votes) will be on the board.

Cherry County also showed strong support for Republican candidates, with nearly 88% voting for Donald Trump for president, and 2,327 ballots cast for U.S. Senate incumbent Deb Fischer, compared to 639 for Independent Dan Osborn.
