Rosebud man sentenced for sexual contact at abandoned car wash in Mission

A Rosebud man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at an abandoned car wash in Mission and failing to register as a sex offender.

MISSION, S.D. - A Rosebud man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at an abandoned car wash in Mission and failing to register as a sex offender. Eugene Hollow Horn Bear, age 65, was convicted of two counts of Abusive Sexual Contact and one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. 

According to the evidence presented at trial, the victim awoke to Hollow Horn Bear touching her genital area and breasts after she had gone to sleep at the abandoned car wash in July 2023. The victim called out for help, and another person pulled Hollow Horn Bear off the woman and forced him to leave the car wash. Hollow Horn Bear had also failed to update his sex offender registration when he committed the offense.

In addition to the prison sentence, Hollow Horn Bear was sentenced to five years of supervised release and ordered to pay a $300 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
