Person dies in Winner, SD house fire on Thanksgiving

A Thanksgiving Day house fire in Winner, South Dakota, has claimed the life of one person.

WINNER, S.D. - A Thanksgiving Day house fire in Winner, South Dakota, has claimed the life of one person. Police Chief Marc Dvorak confirms that shortly before 3:00 a.m. on Nov. 28, a police officer discovered a house on fire in western Winner.

The Tripp County Sheriff’s Office, Tripp County Ambulance and Winner Fire Department responded. Firefighters were able to remove one person from the house. That individual was transported to Winner Regional Healthcare Center and pronounced dead a short time later.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased, pending notification of family.
