Jury returns verdict in Valentine assault case

A jury has found 49-year-old Jason Rodgers of Valentine guilty of two felonies and two misdemeanors.

VALENTINE, Neb. - A jury has found 49-year-old Jason Rodgers of Valentine guilty of two felonies and two misdemeanors.

The charges stem from an Oct. 2023 incident in which authorities say Rodgers broke into a home, assaulted two people, and stole items, including a firearm. He was convicted of second-degree assault, theft by unlawful taking, criminal mischief, and possession of a stolen firearm. However, the jury acquitted him of third-degree domestic assault.

Rodgers' sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
