Two people die in crash near Kyle

Authorities say icy roads are to blame for a deadly crash west of Kyle, South Dakota.

KYLE, S.D. - Authorities say icy roads are to blame for a deadly crash west of Kyle, South Dakota. According to the Oglala Sioux Tribe Department of Public Safety (OSTDPS), Wayne Cournoyer and Laila Spencer died when their two vehicles collided on the morning of Jan. 15 along BIA 2. Cournoyer and Spencer were the only people in the vehicles.

Emergency crews temporarily closed both eastbound and westbound lanes for investigation, but the road has since reopened.

While the OSTDPS confirmed the road was ice-covered, the crash remains under investigation.
