VALENTINE, Neb. - Getting a haircut in Valentine may soon come with a little extra buzz—literally. On Thursday night, the Valentine City Council approved a Class “C” Liquor License for Twisted Scissors Salon & Spa.

While there aren’t exact numbers on how many salons are applying for liquor licenses, more and more are offering alcoholic beverages as a way to enhance the customer experience. In Nebraska, a law that took effect on July 19, 2018, permits salons to serve drinks as long as they secure the proper license from the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission.

However, the law doesn’t extend to barber shops, mobile salons, or schools, and employees aren’t allowed to consume alcohol on-site.
