Stolen vehicle from Valentine recovered in Rapid City; suspect arrested

A 30-year-old South Dakota man is facing charges after a vehicle was stolen in Valentine.

VALENTINE, Neb. - A 30-year-old South Dakota man is facing charges after a vehicle was stolen in Valentine.

According to the Valentine Police Department, the vehicle was reported stolen from the 400 block of West 2nd Street on Feb. 26. Later that same day, authorities located the stolen vehicle in Rapid City, where the suspect was taken into custody. In addition to possession of a stolen vehicle, the man was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.

That same evening, at around 9 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of South Helen Street. A 30-year-old South Dakota woman was arrested for trespassing and booked into the Cherry County Jail.

These incidents were among more than 60 calls for service the Valentine Police Department handled between Feb. 23 and March 1, including: 18 traffic stops, three domestic disturbances, two harassment complaints and an assault.
