Man arrested for assaulting peace officer at Cherry County Hospital parking lot
A 36-year-old Nebraska man has been arrested for assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.

VALENTINE, Neb. - A 36-year-old Nebraska man has been arrested for assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. According to the Valentine Police Department (VPD), officers responded to an altercation in the parking lot of the Cherry County Hospital on March 6 at 1:30 a.m. Authorities say the man was uncooperative with law enforcement before being taken into custody.
In addition to that arrest, Valentine Police made several other arrests during the week of March 2 to March 9:
- March 2, 9:40 p.m. – A 37-year-old South Dakota man was arrested near the intersection of 4th and Wood streets for driving under the influence of alcohol, unlawful flight to avoid arrest, and resisting arrest.
- March 4, 10:20 a.m. – Officers responded to a non-injury crash in the 300 block of East Highway 20. A 42-year-old Nebraska man involved in the crash was arrested for driving with a revoked license.
- March 5, 11:45 p.m. – An officer approached a vehicle loitering in the City Park after hours. The driver, a 33-year-old Nebraska man, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During the week, the Valentine Police Department responded to 44 calls for service, including:
- 12 traffic stops
- 2 non-injury accidents
- 1 welfare check
- 1 domestic disturbance
