SPRINGVIEW, Neb. - The Middle Niobrara Natural Resources District board has voted to send a letter of intent supporting potential upgrades to the Cub Creek recreation area west of Springview.

General Manager Mike Murphy said proposed updates may include improved boat ramp access and enhanced handicap accessibility.

“They’re excited to see something done in and around Springview. They appreciate us being more active because they don’t have a big budget for it,” said Murphy.

The board had previously supported a similar project prior to the COVID pandemic, but it was never completed. Nebraska Game and Parks could soon begin engineering and design work for the improvements.

Cub Creek, located eight miles west of Springview along Highway 12, is home to a variety of fish species, including bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, and yellow perch. The area also offers boating, camping, hiking trails, hunting, and picnic shelters.
