CHADRON, Neb. – Redshirt senior Logan O'Brien became the first Chadron State player this season to earn weekly honors as he was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week by the league office Monday.

O'Brien earned the award after a litany of contributions during Chadron State's 31-28 win over Black Hills State last Saturday. The redshirt senior linebacker finished with eight tackles (five solo and three assisted), 3.5 tackles for loss and a pass breakup.

The key moment for O'Brien came in the second quarter. Blitzing off the edge, O'Brien read the Black Hills State swing pass perfectly and leapt vertically to snatch the ball out of the air for an interception, then ran 18 yards untouched for a score that gave the Eagles a 21-7 lead.

O'Brien leads the RMAC with five tackles for loss, ranks tied for sixth in the RMAC with 21 total tackles on the season and is one of only two RMAC players to run an interception back for a touchdown so far in 2025.

The Eagles are now 1-2 on the season and are 1-0 in conference play after the win over Black Hills State. Chadron State will hit the road next Saturday to face Colorado School of Mines at noon. The Orediggers will feature the reigning Offensive Player of the Week in running back Landon Walker. Black Hills State punter Mason Crosby was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
