Utah woman with history of assaulting law enforcement faces new charges after Ainsworth traffic stop

AINSWORTH, Neb. - A Utah woman with a history of assaulting law enforcement is facing new charges in Brown County after a bizarre traffic stop in Ainsworth.
According to court records, a sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over 45-year-old Katie Reber of Provo after noticing her car was missing a passenger-side rear tire and being driven on the rim.
The deputy reported that Reber refused to roll down her window or follow commands. When warned that the window would be broken if she did not comply, Reber allegedly continued eating Spam out of a can instead of cooperating. The deputy then broke the passenger-side window to intervene.
Authorities say Reber resisted further, refusing to unbuckle her seatbelt or exit the vehicle. Once removed, she allegedly laid on her back in the highway and had to be forcibly turned over and carried to a patrol car after refusing to walk.
Court records show Reber had an active warrant in Paris, Idaho, for failing to appear on an assault and battery on law enforcement charge earlier this year. She also faces a resisting arrest charge from Jefferson County, Montana, in May 2025, and was previously charged with assault and battery on law enforcement in Fairfax, Colorado, in 2014.
In Brown County, Reber is now charged with resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, reckless driving, and operating a vehicle with bald or improper tires. Officials say a mugshot was not taken of Reber because she refused to cooperate.
