Hay Springs man charged with assault after man found unconscious with brain bleed

A 25-year-old Hay Springs man is facing a first-degree assault charge after a man was found unconscious and seriously injured in the street.

HAY SPRINGS, Neb. — A 25-year-old Hay Springs man is facing a first-degree assault charge after a man was found unconscious and seriously injured in the street.

According to court documents, Bryce Running Hawk was arrested after a man was found with serious injuries lying in the middle of Clarke Street and Miller Street around 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 2.

When authorities arrived, the man had been moved into a nearby yard. Court documents say he had significant head and facial injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. His hair was soaked with blood, his ear was swollen, and he had contusions around his mouth and on his left elbow.

The victim was taken to Chadron Community Hospital and later transferred to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff for his injuries, including a brain bleed, a broken jaw and a crushed nasal septum.

Running Hawk is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 11.
