Lincoln man sentenced in Morrill County District Court for Possession of a Deadly Weapon

A Lincoln man was sentenced in Morrill County District Court on charges including Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person. He was sentenced to 210 days.

BRIDGEPORT, Ne. -- Cody Scalf, 37, of Lincoln, was sentenced in Morrill County District Court on charges of Felony Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest and Felony Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person. 

He was also charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer and Driving Under Suspension. 

Scalf was contacted by Morrill County Sheriff’s deputies in a pursuit, stopped at the Cenex station in Bridgeport. 

He denied being the motorcycle driver in the pursuit. In the search of his person, deputies found a fixed-blade “karambit-style” knife, according to court records. Scalf admitted he is a convicted felon. According to court records, he was also in possession of a suspended driver’s license and multiple counterfeit 20-dollar bills.  

On December 1, he agreed to a Plea Agreement with Operating Vehicle to Avoid Citation (Class IV Felony), Obstruction of a Peace Officer (Class 1 Misdemeanor), Driving Under Suspension (Class 3 Misdemeanor) and Attempt of Class 3 Felony, Class 4 Attempted Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Felon. 

He also appeared for sentencing on a separate case when he was sentenced for amended charges of Possession of Paraphernalia, Driving Under Suspension, Possession of Marijuana first offense and Driving on Shoulder of Highway.
