Sidney Mayor Brandon Bondegard announces his bid for reelection to City Council, citing focus on public safety, infrastructure and fiscal responsibility.

SIDNEY, Neb. — Sidney Mayor Brandon Bondegard announced his candidacy for reelection to the Sidney City Council, citing continued focus on public safety, fiscal responsibility, infrastructure and maintaining the city’s quality of life.
Bondegard said he remains committed to listening to residents and delivering practical solutions to community concerns. He said progress has been made but that additional work remains.
“I have been honored to serve our vibrant community and tackle the critical issues that shape our future,” Bondegard said in a statement. “While there is still vital work to be done, I am eager to continue serving and collaborating with you to drive meaningful progress.”
Bondegard has served on the Sidney City Council since November 2022 and was appointed mayor in July 2025.
A lifelong Cheyenne County resident, Bondegard has lived in Sidney since 2012 and is a graduate of Lodgepole High School. He has worked in agriculture for 20 years and has been a grain inspector with the Kansas Grain Inspection Service since 2011. He also assists with wheat harvest at Bondegard Farms.
While living in Lodgepole, Bondegard served 12 years as a volunteer firefighter. He has also been involved in the Western Nebraska American Pool Association and currently serves as vice president of Cheyenne County Boss Gobblers NWTF.
Bondegard and his wife, Amy, have been married since 2015. He said he looks forward to earning voters’ support in the upcoming election.
