Fire south of Long Pine burns 800 acres
No injuries reported; officials say blaze likely sparked by power line

LONG PINE, Neb. — Firefighters continue battling a wildfire south of Long Pine that has burned an estimated 800 acres and stretched about five miles.
Crews have divided the fire into two separate areas as they work to prevent it from spreading into tree groves and hay stacks.
Brown and Rock County Emergency Manager Traci Booth said there have been no reports of injuries, livestock or building losses, or fatalities. However, the fire came extremely close to several structures.
Firefighters from multiple departments worked through the night alongside area power companies. Authorities believe the fire was sparked by a power line. The initial call came in around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday.
“The conditions are still very prevalent for wildfires,” Booth said. “Always make sure you have a plan in place ahead of time in case there’s a wildfire in your area. Know which documents to grab, who to call and have an emergency plan.”
