WEEPING WATER, NE - The Weeping Water Indians got another impressive performance from freshman Ella Huskey to advance in the Class D1 girls basketball playoffs Saturday as they defeated Lourdes Central Catholic 67-56, as heard on Otoe County Country. The Knights' season ends with a record of 12-10, while Weeping Water moves on to the District Finals.

Weeping Water held a 16-9 lead after the opening quarter, then built that up to a 39-22 lead at recess. LCC trailed H-TR-S by double digits at halftime of their prior game before coming back to win by double figures, but the Knights were unable to find such magic this time. Lourdes saw Lily Madison turn in a solid 23-point performance, while hitting 8/13 at the free throw line, while Amelia White chipped in with eleven. Overall, the team hit just half of its freebies (14/28), and they drained only two 3-pointers. Meanwhile, Huskey poured in 24 points and went 10/12 at the charity stripe, while also adding nine steals and four assists. Clara Meyer was 4/8 from long distance and finished with 14, while Hailee Rineer hit for eleven points. Overall, the squad was 11/14 at the flat line, and they hit 8/17 from the curved one.

Weeping Water goes into the District Finals as the 14-seed. They'll visit the third-seeded Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday.
