Nebraska senators remember fallen Bellevue soldier
Fischer and Ricketts honor Sgt. First Class Noah Tietjens and offer condolences to families of those killed
WASHINGTON — Nebraska’s two U.S. senators Deb Fischer and Pete Ricketts paid tribute Wednesday to a fallen service member from Bellevue.
Fischer and Ricketts honored Army Sgt. First Class Noah Tietjens on the Senate floor, remembering the soldier who was killed in Kuwait while supporting Operation Epic Fury.
Tietjens enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2006 and served nearly two decades, including previous deployments to Kuwait.
During their remarks, both senators remembered Tietjens’ service and sacrifice and offered condolences to his family and fellow service members. They also honored the other service members killed in the attack and offered condolences to their loved ones.
Other Nebraska leaders have also shared condolences following Tietjens’ death, including Gov. Jim Pillen and U.S. Rep. Mike Flood, who both remembered the soldier’s sacrifice and expressed support for his family and fellow service members.
