Once facing some 120 years behind bars, fired Pilger Village Clerk, Kimberly Neiman could be out of prison in 18 months.

Neiman, who was hailed as the town’s hero following twin tornadoes in 2014, began serving time this week at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York.

She was initially charged with seven counts of theft for writing hundreds of thousands of dollars in questionable checks on a village account but a deal with prosecutors found her pleading guilty to one count of attempted theft with a maximum three years in prison.

According to prison records examined by News Channel Nebraska, under the state's Good Time Law, Neiman is in line for 191 days of good time which would have her out on the street August 2nd of next year.
