It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the loving Alene Jean Eggerling, born on May 30, 1952, in Odell, NE. Alene, a resident of Wymore, Nebraska, departed this life on November 28, 2023. A dedicated hairdresser, she owned and operated Alene's Salon in Wymore for over 40 years, becoming an integral part of the community. Outside of her professional life, Alene was an enthusiastic fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. She also greatly enjoyed crocheting, word searches, and attending her grandsons' activities. Alene loved Christmas and angels, and her family gatherings were always a joyful occasion.

Alene was the beloved wife of the late Richard Eggerling, whom she married on March 11, 1978. She was a 1971 graduate of Wymore High School and later attended Joseph's College of Beauty in Beatrice. Alene was a woman of strong faith, and what mattered most to her were her family and faith.

She is survived by her son Kevin (Shaena) Eggerling, her sister Mary Lou (Kenny) Retchless, her grandsons Kannen, Dannie, and CJ Eggerling, her aunt Frieda Lieneman, nieces, Krystal (Tony) Jackson, Kandi Behrends (Dustin Adams), Diane (Greg) Sullivan, and Pam (Tim) Vonderloo, sister-in-law, Letha (Alan) Jones, cousin, Leanna (Don) Stenglemeier, several great nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Alene was preceded in death by her parents, Lammert and Minnie (Lieneman) Wiemers, her husband Richard, her sister Marlene Swett, brother-in-law, Pat Swett, 2 aunts, and 2 uncles.

A funeral service will be held at the Immanuel (Stateline) Lutheran Church on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A family prayer service will begin at 10:15 AM. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to attend at www.ghchapel.com. The body will lie in state at the Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home in Wymore on Sunday from 1:00 to 8:00 PM with family greeting from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. A memorial has been established to the church and Lutheran Family Services with the funeral home in charge. We invite all who knew and loved Alene to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Alene's life was filled with love, faith, and dedication, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.
