CODY, Neb. - For many of us, it’s a daily ritual—grabbing that essential cup of coffee on your way to work. However, it’s not just any cup of Joe; it might be a pumpkin cream cold brew or an iced dirty chai latte. But finding your go-to specialty brew in a rural area isn’t always a smooth experience.

That was the case in Cody, Nebraska, until now. NC Coffee, a coffee shop on wheels, has opened in the small Sandhills town.

“I like high-level coffee,” said Stanley Schied.

Schied retired to the town of around 150.

“I’ve been driving to Valentine to get coffee for a long time,” said Schied.

Before NC Coffee perked up, Schied would drive nearly 40 miles each way a few times of week.

“I have a thermos, and it would last me two or three days,” said Schied.

Clay and Natasha Hamilton, the couple behind the business, are based out of Cody, but they often roll out to nearby towns, including Valentine, when other coffee shops are closed.

“We lived south of Cody as well, so we were an hour from Valentine,” said Natasha. “We didn’t want to drive an hour for coffee.”

They brewed up a plan, investing in their own coffee roaster and espresso machine at home. This year they decided to share their personal equipment and expertise.

“We had worked at a couple of coffee shops in North Carolina, and we really enjoyed it. We were like, ‘This would be cool to open something like this,’” said Natasha.

With their dream now a reality, NC Coffee isn’t just serving up regulars like Stanley, but also brewing up new customers.

“I brought my lovely father with me,” said Chelsey Delaney. “He wanted the Folgers blend this morning."

A statement heard all over America until they take that first sip.

“Good black coffee right here. I’ll tell you what,” said Chelsey's dad, Rocky Risse.
