PINE RIDGE, S.D. - A Pine Ridge man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for five counts of Assault on a Federal Officer. Jeremy Crow, age 31, was found guilty of assaulting several officers after a 911 call by an unknown caller in a residential area of Pine Ridge on Dec. 22, 2023. When a tribal officer arrived on scene, he saw Crow and a woman with apparent facial injuries. Believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance, Crow resisted arrest, pushing the officer backward before jumping into the police vehicle and attempting to flee.

The officer managed to shut off the ignition and forcibly removed Crow from the vehicle. Crow actively resisted, and even after being tased, continued to struggle. A bystander, noticing the officer's difficulty, called for backup. During the arrest, Crow bit the initial responding officer on the bicep and later spat on a female officer after being secured in the patrol car.

Two days later, on Dec. 24, while in custody, Crow attacked corrections officers. When a cell door was opened to provide food and water, Crow forced his way out, resisted capture, and bit two corrections officers on their hands.

In addition to the prison sentence, Crow also was sentenced to three years of supervised release on each count and ordered to pay a total of $500 in special assessments to the Federal Crime Victims Fund for the five convictions.
