‘I’m gonna shoot all of you’: Gordon woman sentenced for assaulting law enforcement, stealing vehicles
RUSHVILLE, Neb. - A Gordon woman has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers and stealing vehicles. Amanda Renz, 37, admitted to four felony charges—third-degree assault on a corrections officer or healthcare professional, third-degree assault on a corrections officer, theft, and unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle—in a plea deal that dropped several other charges.
The assault charges stem from incidents in March, following her arrest by Gordon Police for suspected driving under the influence. According to court documents, during her booking at the jail, Renz attempted to kick a female jailer in the face and verbally threatened staff.
The situation escalated the next day when a sergeant prepared to transfer Renz to the Lincoln County Jail due to her hostility toward staff. An affidavit details that Renz became aggressive, stating, "I’m gonna shoot all of you," and referencing ownership of an AR-style rifle. She also declared, "I’m not going," and, "I’m going to make this difficult for you guys."
Renz then punched a deputy multiple times with closed fists and gouged a sergeant's right eye, causing severe pain, temporary dislocation, and blurred vision. Once restrained, she spat in the faces of both the sergeant and the jail supervisor while threatening to "organize a mob hit" on those involved.
In a separate incident, court documents reveal that on Sept. 11, Renz was found in possession of a stolen pickup truck. When the truck broke down, she stole a UTV.
Renz will receive credit for the time she’s already served in custody.
