VALENTINE, Neb. - A confrontation involving a gun on Valentine’s Main Street Monday evening led to the arrest of one man and an ongoing investigation.

According to the Valentine Police Department, the incident happened around 5:00 p.m. on June 16 in the 300 block of North Main Street—directly in front of the Cherry County Justice Center.

Police say the driver of a vehicle believed he was being harassed and threatened by a passenger in a car following him. In response, police say the driver stopped, got out of his vehicle, and drew a firearm.

An officer from the Valentine Police Department and deputy from the Cherry County Sheriff’s Office responded. The male passenger from the second vehicle was arrested for disturbing the peace. The driver with the gun was interviewed and released.

The case is now being referred to the Cherry County Attorney’s Office for further review.
