Mission man sentenced to nearly four years in prison for possessing a stolen gun

MISSION, S.D. — A 30-year-old Mission man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison after admitting to possessing a stolen firearm.
Prosecutors say Marlow Poor Thunder was driving a stolen vehicle in October, when a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper stopped him. At the time, he had a stolen gun that authorities say he had taken earlier that day from another vehicle.
A federal grand jury indicted Poor Thunder in February for possession of a stolen firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty in July to the stolen firearm charge.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the Yankton Police Department and the Sioux Falls Police Department.
