GORDON, Neb. — A Pine Ridge man has been charged in Sheridan County with failing to update his information on the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry.

According to court documents, 36-year-old Faron Apple began working at Open Range Beef in Gordon on July 28 but did not report his new employment as required. Law enforcement learned of the violation on Aug. 19.

The next day, court documents state that Apple scheduled an appointment to update his registry information, but authorities say he failed to appear and subsequently left his job at Open Range Beef.

Apple was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse in 2004 for having sex with a 13-year-old girl when he was 15. He has additional convictions, including assaulting federal officers in 2021 and 2024.
