Three injured in two-vehicle crash at Scottsbluff intersection

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening at Avenue I and West Overland in Scottsbluff.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — Three people were transported to Regional West Medical Center following a two-vehicle crash Sunday evening at the intersection of Avenue I and West Overland, according to the Scottsbluff Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the reported injury accident at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Police said the crash involved a blue 2015 Honda Civic driven by Carolina Torres, 59, of Scottsbluff, and a silver 2021 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Marie Carabajal, 74, also of Scottsbluff.

Investigators determined the Civic was traveling westbound on West Overland and the Equinox was traveling southbound prior to the collision. Both vehicles stopped at their respective posted stop signs. The Civic entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the Equinox.

Three occupants involved in the crash were transported to Regional West Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The Honda Civic was declared a total loss, and the Chevrolet Equinox sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

The intersection was partially closed for approximately one hour while the investigation was conducted.

Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West Medical Center Ambulance Services assisted at the scene.
