Valentine Police make arrests in stolen gun, assault cases

Valentine Police have arrested a 43-year-old Nebraska man in connection to a burglary and stolen firearms case reported earlier this month.

VALENTINE, Neb. – Valentine Police have arrested a 43-year-old Nebraska man in connection to a burglary and stolen firearms case reported earlier this month.

The burglary occurred June 6 around 3:40 p.m. in the 200 block of A Street. On June 9, after receiving a tip, officers arrested the man for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Following the arrest, police served a search warrant in the 200 block of North Western Street where they say they recovered additional items taken during the burglary.

In a separate case, officers arrested a 24-year-old Nebraska woman on June 14 following a reported assault in the 100 block of North Main Street. She was booked on a charge of third-degree assault.

In total, the Valentine Police Department responded to 48 calls for service last week, including:
• 26 traffic stops
• 4 welfare checks
• 2 assaults
• 1 burglary
• 1 injury accident
• 1 non-injury accident
