Two South Dakota residents arrested for drug possession in Valentine

Two South Dakota residents are facing charges after Valentine Police say they were caught with drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and suspected methamphetamine.

VALENTINE, Neb. – Two South Dakota residents are facing charges after Valentine Police say they were caught with drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and suspected methamphetamine.
Police say an officer contacted the 36-year-old man and 40-year-old woman while they were sitting in a vehicle on Park Hill Road on Aug. 3. A search of the vehicle turned up the illegal drugs.

Here’s more from the Valentine Police Department’s weekly report for Aug. 3–9:

  • Sunday, Aug. 3, 9:00 p.m. – A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 62-year-old Nebraska man for driving under the influence.
  • Friday, Aug. 8, 7:50 p.m. – Police arrested a 39-year-old South Dakota woman for theft after a shoplifting complaint at Casey’s General Store.

In total, Valentine Police responded to 49 calls for service, including:

  • 8 traffic stops
  • 1 non-injury accident
  • 2 animal complaints
  • 3 welfare checks
  • 1 assault
  • 1 criminal mischief
