$28.8 million dollar flood mitigation plan approved for Northeast Nebraska communities

A major step forward has been taken to protect several northeast Nebraska communities from future flooding, as the federal government officially approved the North Fork Elkhorn River Watershed Plan on June 22nd.

Thunderstorm Warning issued for Logan, Philips, Sedgwick counties

At 603 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 9 miles north of Twin Buttes to near St Petersburg, or along a line from 16 miles southeast of Sidney to 23 miles east of Sterling.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued for Logan, Washington counties

At 558 PM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 6 miles southwest of St Petersburg to near Platner, or along a line from 18 miles southeast of Sterling to 6 miles east of Akron, moving east at 25 mph.

Roads temporarily closed at Wildcat Hills SRA

Eastern portions of Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area are closed to vehicle access during a campground improvement project. The project will add electrical campsites and a shower house to the park’s eastern campground, which previously offered basic, non-electric camping only. 

Wheat Belt announces work on damaged power lines in Morrill County

Wheat Belt Public Power customers may notice additional crews working throughout Morrill County as Colorado Power, Inc. (CPI) begins rebuilding about 14 miles of power line damaged during the April 2024 ice storm.
